|ADL Expresses Concern Over David Duke's Link to Neo-Nazi Hate Group|
YORK - December 21 - The following was released
today by the Anti-Defamation League:
Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today expressed concern about David Duke's links to the National Alliance (NA), an organization the ADL termed "the single most dangerous organized hate group in the United States" in a recently published report.
According to a claim which appears on the extremist Internet hate site "Stormfront, [ http://www.stormfront.org/ ]" Duke announced his candidacy for the congressional seat being vacated by Republican Representative Robert Livingston while attending a National Alliance event this past weekend in Tampa, Fla.
The National Alliance is the largest and most active neo-Nazi organization in the nation, with 16 active cells from coast to coast and a reported membership of 1,000. In the last three years, there has been evidence of NA activity in no fewer than 26 states. Duke, former Klan leader and founder of the National Association for the Advancement of White People, has taken advantage of speaking venues provided for him by the National Alliance. In the past two years, he has reportedly appeared at no less than four National Alliance meetings.
According to a National Alliance leader in Tampa, the NA "hired" Duke to "increase the visibility of the organization and to recruit new members."
